3 Things You May Not Know About Me...

My Food Philosophy

I grew up overweight. I had terrible eating habits. I had a bad self image. I went on fad diets….but at 17 years of age, I had an ah-ha moment: I changed my diet and that changed my life. In fact, that’s why I became a dietitian nutritionist!

My Brand Partnerships

Although I wrote a book on supermarket shopping…even I find reading food labels to be overwhelming! That’s why I partner with brands I can trust. I’ll share my favorite products to help you live your life conveniently, healthfully and deliciously.

My Media Secrets

Even after doing thousands of media interviews, sometimes I still get nervous about being in front of the camera! To gain confidence and shake off the jitters — I’ll share strategies to help you get interviews and make every one a success.

Bonnie’s Bio

Bonnie Taub-Dix, MA,RDN,CDN  is the award-winning author of, Read It Before You Eat It – Taking You from Label to Table, and creator of the website and blog called, BetterThanDieting.com.  Bonnie is a media personality, spokesperson, motivational speaker, journalist, and corporate and brand consultant whose messages are laced with her culinary passion as a foodie, her credible guidance as an advisor and her wit and wisdom as a mom. Bonnie is Director and Owner of BTD Nutrition Consultants, LLC, with offices on Long Island and in New York City.

Bonnie is a Health & Wellness Contributor for TODAY.com, US News & World Report, Everyday Health, Livestrong, Better Homes & Gardens, Family Circle, EatThisNotThat and Vitamin Shoppe’s What’s Good V. She is an Expert Reviewer for Greatist and Livestrong. Her stories, quotes, and interviews have appeared in all forms of media comprised of television and radio shows and print and online platforms.

Her favorite pastime is cooking in the kitchen with her family! Even more important than some subjects you learn in school…Bonnie has set an example when setting her table by teaching her kids that nutritious and delicious can exist on the same plate.

On a personal note, Bonnie is grateful to be able to do what she loves every day and she takes pride in being referred to as, “genuine,” “sincere,” “reliable,” and “professional.” She is married and has three sons, a daughter-in-law and a grandson…and they all appreciate the joy in creating and sharing foods they love.

Corporate Consultant & Advisory Board Member:

As Nutrition Communications Consultant to brands and corporate clients, Bonnie sees herself as being an interpreter, making sense of confusing science by helping to convey messages to consumers, industry, dietitians and health professionals via workshops, writing, and social media campaigns.

Collaborating with a brand is more than just being able to satisfy a Statement of Work; Bonnie serves as an advisor to the companies she consults with, offering her sage advice regarding current trends and headlines that surround their own, as well as competing brands.

As a nutrition consultant to The Cartoon Network, Bonnie collaborated on designing a program for the Food and Drug Administration regarding food labeling, and to date, consults with CN on issues regarding programming and advertising to children.

As a liaison between industry and the public, she holds a position on the editorial advisory boards of Family Circle Magazine and Environmental Nutrition Newsletter.

Media Trainer:

After decades of conducting interviews, including all forms of traditional and social media platforms, Bonnie has decided to share her experience and knowledge to help others get their names in the news. Her BTD Media Group company involves one-to-one media training as well as group and online classes.

Bonnie shines when it comes to being the face and voice of the companies she represents. She helps brands communicate and connect with their consumers by helping to craft realistic and meaningful campaigns that people can actually understand and apply to their everyday lives.

Bonnie served as a Media Spokesperson to the New York State Dietetic Association for five years after which she was appointed to the position of Spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for six years. She has conducted thousands of interviews for all forms of media and is called upon regularly as a trusted resource for television, magazines, newspapers, and web venues.

Author:

The second edition of Bonnie’s book, Read It Before You Eat It – Taking You from Label to Table, translates confusing and misleading terminology into consumer-friendly information. Her strong relationships with members of the media have enabled her as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to guide shoppers down the supermarket aisle. Her book has been welcomed as a go-to resource in the food-labeling arena and has attracted hundreds of interviews in all forms of media. The evergreen and seemingly ever-confusing subjects of healthy supermarket shopping and label reading continue to be sited regularly.

She was a consultant to and was quoted within books including Nutrition for Dummies, Cholesterol for Dummies, and The Only 127 Things You Need, and she has written chapters for textbooks, including Weight Management: A Practical Guide, The Entrepreneurial Nutritionist, and Nutrition Concerns of Women.

Bonnie is the co-author of Kosher By Design Lightens Up, a book that blends the science of nutrition and tradition of home cooking. Bonnie’s cooking skills has helped to demonstrate that you can preserve tradition while preserving your health.

Bonnie has been a guest on national television shows including CNN, CBS Early Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, TODAY Show, Anderson Cooper 360, The Daily, and FOXNews. She’s worked with the Discovery Channel and Lifetime TV as an on-air consultant for several nationally broadcast programs. She is a contributor to TODAY.com.

Bonnie loves to paint pictures with words and has conducted Radio Media Tours for brands she has worked with and has been heard on radio shows including Dr. Radio on Sirius Satellite Radio and Martha Stewart Radio.

Bonnie is a prolific writer on issues related to nutrition for both popular and professional publications providing practical advice on healthy living to the press including interviews via New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, The Daily News, The New York Post and The Chicago Tribune. Bonnie has been honored with the 2012 Media Excellence Award by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In 2003, she received the Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Nutrition Entrepreneurs, and the following year she was acknowledged with the New York State Dietetic Association’s Media Excellence Award.

Bonnie received her Bachelors Degree in Clinical and Community Dietetics from Downstate Medical Center and her Masters Degree in Nutrition from New York University.
